About Me
I work with children, young people and parents to support mental well-being.
I am a qualified child and adolescent counsellor registered with the BACP and abide by BACP ethical frameworks for working with adults, children and young people. I am insured, hold an enhanced DBS certificate and have worked in both primary and secondary schools.
My training is integrative which means I draw on a variety of approaches to counselling. I also take into account a child/young person’s developmental stage and their interests and abilities when we work together so that I can tailor sessions to suit individual needs.
My practice is child-centred and child-led which means that I work with whatever is on a child’s mind and at the child’s pace. It can be hard for children/young people to find the right words to describe feelings, so I use a combination of talking therapy, creative activities, play, games and metaphor. This encourages the exploration and expression of feelings that a child or young person may be struggling with.
Sessions take place weekly and last 50 minutes. I will always have at least 2 initial intake session with parents during which we can get to know each other and I will take a full history. This will help to build a partnership to support you and your young person.
